TENCEL ™ is a brand that everyone in the fashion industry gradually knows. They are known for their sustainable lyocell and modal fibers which are produced from wood, most often beech wood.
To many, it may sound strange to have to wear clothes based on wood, but they have some amazing properties compared to their competitors such as cotton:
The sustainable alternative to cotton
Cotton is the preferred fabric for underwear and clothing in general. But what many do not know is that despite cotton being natural, huge amounts of water and chemicals are used to make the clothes we all use in everyday life. Even the production of clothes with organic cotton uses large amounts of water.
TENCEL ™ Lyocell fibers are made in what is called a “Closed loop cycle”, where 99% of the water is recycled. In addition to the fantastic functional properties, the fibers are also incredibly environmentally friendly, and the fabric itself is compostable over time. But don’t worry, the boxer shorts do not crumble while you are wearing them.
TENCEL ™ Lyocell boxers and bamboo socks
At Groomi, our entire underwear line will be based on TENCEL ™ Lyocell fibers, due to their fantastic functional properties and they are recognized as one of the world’s most sustainable fabrics.
Our boxer shorts have as much as 96% TENCEL ™ Lyocell fibers made of beech wood. The high amount of wood fibers makes them soft and flexible and at the same time breathable, bactericidal and keeps the skin comfortably cool and dry throughout the day. We have combined it with a flexible but slightly thicker elastic around the waist that makes it not bend and open up at the back.
Our black socks are made of 100% TENCEL ™ Lyocell bamboo fibers which have many of the same properties as the boxer shorts. The bamboo tree also has the advantage that it is the world’s fastest growing tree, which you can read more about here. We have combined this with our logo and size inside the socks so it is easy to find a match after washing, while maintaining the stylish expression on the outside.
Certified quality from Lenzing
More and more manufacturers are starting to make the so-called lyocell fibers, which are 3rd generation wood fibers. But by using TENCEL certified products, you can be sure the materials are OEKO-TEX certified and made in the most sustainable way, which is why we have chosen them.
The TENCEL brand originates from the Austrian company Lenzing. On their website you can read more about the company, their value sets and the amazing fibers that are revolutionizing the clothing industry.
